Outreach and Engagement
The College of Arts and Letters is a leader in outreach and engagement, celebrating and promoting arts and humanities teaching, scholarship, and programming on campus and beyond. It builds strong collaborations between community institutions and arts and humanities scholar-teachers, and provides leadership that facilitates faculty and student efforts to engage in public work and conduct scholarship in the service of public problem solving.
The Office of the Associate Dean for Outreach and Engagement is working to make the College of Arts and Letters a national and international leader in scholarly engagement and teaching.
Initiatives include the creation of a series of scholarly engagement colloquies that focus on arts and humanities topics; developing an online training program for faculty and graduate students; providing individual consultation regarding scholarly engagement; creating new courses in public humanities; facilitating service learning and other experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students; and establishing study abroad programs that focus on scholarly public arts and humanities scholarship.
